Kirandeep Jakhar of Ferozepur
the heartthrob of all punjabies grabbed the most coverted title Miss
WORLD PANJABAN-2004, as her success was smiling all the way since the
very beginning. She charmed the audience with her simplicity in style
yet eloquence in performance and excellent wit and intelligence. She
is a national level volley ball player and has been awarded medals for
her meiotorious performances. She stands 5' 9" in her toes and is a
student of DAV college Amritsar. Ravneet kaur of Dehradun (Utranchal)
did enthrall the audience with her mesmerizing dance performances and
charming personality. She was adjudged first runner up. Manpreet Virk
of Patiala was nominated 2nd runner up for her rhythmic dance performances,
excellent presence of mind and gracious personality.
The event was started
from Punjabi Bride round which did spellbound the audience for the beautiful
portrayal by the contestants of Doli of a bride. The Sub-title of Beautiful
Bride and Gidhian Di Rani were conferred on Harpreet Walia of Ludhiana.
The Solo Dance Round was exceptionally presented by each finalist, which
did enthrall the audience for which Gagandeep Sandhu of Amritsar stole
the coveted title. The titles of Miss Beautiful Eyes and Miss Beautiful
Smile were conferred to Rippandeep Kaur of Jallandhar and Kanwardeep
Bhatia of Delhi respectively, while Gurcharan Mattu of Edmonton (Canada) stole away the title of Miss Congeniality. The complete event
was divided into seven rounds out of which Beauty and Health, Personal
Talent and Traditional Household Work Rounds were conducted at Mohali
and Chandigarh as first part of the event of which Harpreet Kaur of
Sangrur got the title of Talented Panjaban while Jyoti Angural of Amritsar
got Dexterous Panjaban and Jaspreet Toor of Nawanshahar bagged the title
of Miss Beautiful Hair.
The beauty of the event was its excellent professional
organizational approach. It surpassed all previous records of cultural
events ever staged in the history of Punjab, as messages of appreciation
poured in from throughout the world to congratulate the organizers of
this event the most distinguished organization of Punjabi culture, "Sabhyacharak
Sathh Panjab (Regd.)". Appreciations poured in from all quarters
of media and showbiz to the founder chairman of the Event and Sabhyacharak
Sathh Panjab (Regd.) S. Jasmer Singh Dhatt, who has been working
selflessly since 1993 with his selected team for his excellent work
and service to the Punjabi culture. Mr. Dhatt took it as a challenge
against the western dominated beauty pageants wherein scantly clad females
walk shamelessly on the ramp, thus conceiving this noble idea of promoting
and patronizing our Punjabans who are known throughout the world for
their beauty and talent through a unique concept of exclusive beauty
pageants based on Punjabi culture.
The show was also represented by
stars of international repute which included famous singers Palwinder
Dhami, Sarbjit Cheema, Kamaljeet Neeru, Sheeba Bhakhri of 'Pind Di Kudi'
fame and comedian Sudesh Lehri. The jury comprised of famous and
noted actor and singer Harbhajan Mann, noted films stars Preeti
Sapru and Sunita Dhir, Choreographer and lyricist Gill Surjit,
and noted culture promoter from Pakistan Shafiq Butt. Satinder Satti
and Nirmal Jaura did anchor the show presenting it in all its beauty
and splendor. The most exclusive and eagerly awaited beauty pageant
based on Punjabi culture Miss WORLD PANJABAN - 2004 was presented before
a jam packed elite audience of more than 25,000 at GRD Academy, Ludhiana
and was telecasted LIVE throughout the world by Prime Punjabi Channel
ETC and Zee Punjabi.
